Baby Bear Cards

Stampin' Up! ® Independent Demonstrator Ellen Vargo

Hello!

Today I'm sharing some cards I made using the Baby Bear stamp set.  I needed a card for a friend of mine who is expecting her first baby and I thought it would be perfect to pair this card with a Teddy Bear to match!

Start by stamping the darkest layer of the Teddy Bear (the one with the least amount of area to ink) using Chocolate Chip ink.  Then, line up the next stamp (the one with a little more area to ink) using Soft Suede ink. And finally, line up the solid image and stamp it with Sahara Sand ink.  I've tried starting with the solid (lightest) image first and working my way to the darker images, and either method works fine.  I added detail to the eyes using a Black Glaze Pen, let that dry, and added a tiny white dot using a White Gel Pen.  Then die cut the teddy bear using a square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set.

To make a card for a girl or boy, simply choose a blue or pink card stock and designer series paper to match.  For the boy card, I chose a Pool Party card base and Bermuda Bay mattes, with a pattern from the the Picture Perfect Party DSP stack.

For the girl card, I chose a Flirty Flamingo card base with Melon Mambo mattes, with a pattern from the Painted With Love DSP pack.

I added the same sentiment to each card using Chocolate Chip ink, and then added a matching enamel heart from the Brights Enamel Shapes embellishment pack.  The teddy bear and sentiment were popped up using Dimensionals.

Clean and Simple Card - Touches of Texture

Stampin' Up! ® Independent Demonstrator Ellen Vargo

Hello!

Today I've got a very simple, elegant card to share using the Touches of Textures stamp set with some gorgeous paper from the Whole Lot of Lovely designer series.

Begin by cutting a sheet of Whisper White Thick card stock lengthwise in half, then score and fold in half to create a top folding card base.  Then cut a piece of the designer series paper to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere it to the card front with an even border of 1/4" on all sides.

Stamp the burlap texture stamp two times on to Whisper White card stock using Crumb Cake ink (2nd generation for lighter tone).  Then stamp the flowers using Basic Gray ink (I tried Basic Black but it was very harsh... gray looks softer / nicer, I think).

Use Watercolor Pencils and an Aqua Painter to color in the leaves and flowers.  Using an aqua painter gives you the ability to achieve gradient color as the pigment fades out with the water.  I only used two colors:  Old Olive for the leaves and Melon Mambo for the flowers.  To get the strongest, darkest shade of the pencil pigment, touch the tip of your Aqua Painter directly to the tip of the pencil.  To get a lighter shade, scribble some of the pigment onto a scrap sheet to lighten the tone.

Create a matte using Powder Pink card stock, wrap some Silver Baker's Twine around several times and tie a simple knot.  Then pop it up with dimensionals onto the card base.  Add some mini pearls to the flower centers and a few around the flowers and this card is ready to say "Hello" to a loved one, near or far.  (The "HELLO" stamp is from... wait for it... I know you'll be shocked.... the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set! Stamped in Black Archival ink.)

Painted With Love Gift Bag

Stampin' Up! ® Independent Demonstrator Ellen Vargo

Hello!

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for January 2018. This month our theme is Valentines!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Ellen Vargo at ellenvargodesigns.com or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Today, we'll be creating an adorable little gift bag using the Painted With Love designer series paper (DSP).  The finished dimensions are 3" wide x 4" tall x 1.5" deep, and it holds three Lindor truffles perfectly!

Start by cutting a piece of Melon Mambo card stock to 9.5" x 5.5".  The use your Simply Scored scoring board to score as follows:

On the long side:  Score at 3", 4 1/2", 7 1/2" and 9".  Turn 90 degree clockwise and
On the short side:  Score at 1 1/2"

Fold and burnish all score lines.

Cut from the bottom up to the 1 1/2" score line on each of the vertical score lines, and then cut away the smallest rectangle in the lower right corner, and cut small notches at the end of the long skinny tab on the right.  Your finished result should look like this:

Apply Fast Fuse on the right side of the long skinny rectangle (far right above), turn the project over, and fold one end over to overlap the skinny rectangle with adhesive on it.  Then fold in the two sides of the bottom, fold the back tab next, and then apply adhesive to the inside of the final flap and adhere it to the bottom of the bag.  Your bag is now complete - time to decorate!

Cut a piece of the Painted With Love DSP to 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" and adhere it to the front of the bag, centering it so there is an even border on all sides.

Once again, I chose a sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (I'm telling you... this stamp set ROCKS!).  Use the 1 1/2" circle punch to cut out the sentiment, and then punch out two flowers using the Pansy Punch.  Because the circle is too big to show a single pansy punch underneath it, I cut the pansy into sections and adhered them to the bag in sections, as follows:

Then, apply some Fast Fuse to the back of the pansies and apply some gold thread in "loop-de-loops" (technical term!).  Adhere the first end to some fast fuse, let the thread do a loose loop, and adhere the center in the fast fuse again... repeat until your happy with the number of loops and place the final end back in the fast fuse.  Put some dimensionals on the back and adhere to the front of your bag.

I pinched the sides of the bag together and clipped it closed using a Gold Library Clip.  An elegant and yummy Valentine's treat for a friend or loved one.  Super easy and quick to make!

Waterfront Happy Memories

Stampin' Up! ® Independent Demonstrator Ellen Vargo

Hello!

Today I had so much fun playing with the Waterfront Stamp set from the Spring Occasions catalog.  The stamps were made to create a watercolor / brush-stroke look, and I love it!

You'll do all your stamping on a panel of Whisper White Thick card stock.  Start by "smooshing" some Bermuda Bay onto the lid of the ink pad, and then pick up a good amount of ink with a watercolor brush and blend it onto the bottom half of the panel to give a nice base color for the water stamping.  Then use Tempting Turquoise, Bermuda Bay, and Pacific Point to stamp the water brush stroke stamps, layering one over the other, and using some 2nd generation stamping for lighter tones if desired.  The photos don't show it well, but I also added some horizontal brushstrokes with the Wink of Stella glitter pen - beautiful in real life!

Use Pacific Point ink to "watercolor" some brushstrokes above the horizon to create a blue sky.  Leave some white areas to look like clouds.  Then, stamp the "sun" image using Daffodil Delight, and blend some of the same ink into the water directly under the sun to create a reflection.  (I was a little concerned it would turn the water bright green, but I think it turned out OK!)  Next stamp the "land" with Sahara Sand, and add some 1st and 2nd generation stamping of the three tree stamp using Old Olive ink.

I chose to use a sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (NOTE: I have been using these sentiments A TON!! Very versatile set!).  I stamped it in Bermuda Bay ink and used the Everyday Label to punch it out and ink around the edges with a sponge dauber, and added some clear faceted gems on top and bottom of the label.

After matting and mounting the panel over some DSP from the Naturally Eclectic collection, the final touch was to add some Bermuda Bay ribbon from the Shimmer Ribbon Combo Pack (Sale-A-Bration item - Level 1 - 3 ribbons for FREE with $50 purchase).
